Owen Newman - Counselling and Psychotherapy

About me

I'm an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, which holds a register of therapists accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, a national regulatory body for healthcare professionals in the UK. I also have a DBS certificate.

I trained at King's College London University and at The College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies London. I hold a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, a Certificate in Counselling and three postgraduate diplomas in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT is one of the main traditions in counselling and psychotherapy. There are different types of CBT and the types that I specialise in are: Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Therapy (CT) and Mindfulness-Based CBT.

This combination provides a wide range of approaches that I will adapt to suit your specific situation so that we find the way forward that works best for you.
