I also have a DBS certificate.
I trained at King's College London University and at
The College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies London.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, a Certificate in Counselling
and three postgraduate diplomas in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy:
a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy, and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT is one of the main traditions in counselling and psychotherapy.
There are different types of CBT and the types that I specialise in are: Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Therapy (CT) and Mindfulness-Based CBT.
This combination provides a wide range of approaches that I will adapt to suit your specific situation so that we find the way forward that works best for you.
In sessions we explore the problems and challenges you are experiencing and identify specific steps you can take to start making positive changes.
Steps we might typically focus on include:
- Gaining clarity and insight about your situation - your past, the present, what is important to you for the future and the changes you want to make going forward.
- Identifying and overcoming tendencies to get caught up in patterns of thinking that may be having a negative impact on you and affecting your ability to deal with problems.
- Identifying and overcoming the influence of childhood, family or past experiences that may be making you more vulnerable to problems now.
- Working through and resolving negative feelings that arise at difficult times.
- Letting go of unwanted habits, behaviours or compulsions that are having a negative impact.
- Taking action to create positive change when this feels difficult.
- Developing a long-term plan to support your well-being, navigate difficulties and help you overcome problems and challenges.
