About me

I'm an accredited member of the National Counselling Society, which holds a register of therapists accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, a national regulatory body for healthcare professionals in the UK. I also have an enhanced DBS certificate.

I trained at King's College London University and at The College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies London. I hold an BA (Hons) in Philosophy, a Certificate in Counselling and three postgraduate diplomas: a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Counselling and Psychotherapy, and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Cognitive Behavioural Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The types of cognitive behavioural counselling and psychotherapy that I specialise in are: Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Therapy (CT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCBT).

I work by integrating these approaches in ways that will suit your individual needs and preferences.

The process of counselling and psychotherapy

I will first explore with you the past and present events causing the problem you are experiencing, how you have been affected by those events and the changes you would like to make.

As our thoughts, feelings and actions are connected and affect each other, we will look at how the problem affects your thinking (your conscious and unconscious thought patterns and processes), your actions (what you feel like doing and what you actually do or avoid doing), your emotions (for example, feelings of stress, anxiety, depression or anger) and how you are physically affected.

We will then explore different ways of approaching the problem by focusing on how you can start to think about the problem differently and things you can do differently that will help change the way you feel and so change how you respond to the problem.

I will guide you through the process of making these changes until you are seeing consistent progress and are able to remain resilient when placed in difficult or challenging situations. We will also ensure that you have a plan in place to deal with any future challenges.
